At the 2011 Cal Poly Open House, the Cal Poly Motor Car Association was generously offered the donation of a 1977 Porsche 911S Targa by Mr. Beauchamp, a CSU Alumni. He converted the car to an electric powertrain a few years ago, but has since moved on to new projects. Currently powered by a 120 Volt forklift motor and 10 batteries, the Cal Poly Motor Car Association will now face the task of performing both a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. Throughout the project, the student members will learn a great deal about automobiles powered by electricity and batteries, a technology powering many of today's latest production cars. This will be a true hands-on, "Learn By Doing" project, all thanks to the generosity of our donor. Follow our blog to remain updated with our progress!
